Digital skills are fundamental tools in today’s society, as they are essential for communication, education, and employment. This necessity is even greater for students with visual disabilities, who encounter significant barriers to accessing and processing information in traditional ways. These barriers often hinder their ability to fully participate in academic and professional environments. Therefore, mastering the use of the keyboard and understanding typing principles becomes critical for these populations, as it empowers them to interact with technology more effectively. Unfortunately, most educational systems and software applications currently available lack accessible design principles tailored to their needs. In response to this gap, SEMITEC was developed. This innovative application aims to teach typing skills specifically for individuals with visual disabilities. Designed through an elicitation process grounded in information architecture principles, SEMITEC ensures accessibility throughout its interface. The application was rigorously validated in terms of usability by experts knowledgeable in accessibility standards. The results were overwhelmingly positive, indicating that SEMITEC is not only functional but also highly effective in addressing the unique challenges faced by visually impaired users.
