Essential Conditions to Lead the Digital Transformation in the Educational Field in a Higher Education Institution
摘要
In the current digital era, the emergence of new technologies is introducing novel approaches to organizational development. Universities, in particular, are challenged to evolve their educational projects in response to the new technological landscapes. This paper aims to identify the essential conditions required to navigate digital transformation in the educational domain within a Higher Education Institution (HEI). In collaboration with MetaRed, Universidad Católica de Temuco (UC Temuco) participated in the inaugural digital maturity study of Chilean universities alongside 16 other institutions in 2022. The methodology involved defining the sample framework, selecting relevant areas, and gathering data related to technological, management, and educational conditions, collectively indicating the level of digital maturity. The findings reveal that our university's digital maturity is at the median level among participating institutions. This provides a comprehensive perspective on how to enhance our digital capabilities swiftly. Moreover, the study's model has prompted actions such as the development of a Digital Policy aligned with our institutional goals and educational model. UC Temuco now possesses the fundamental conditions to lead the digital transformation process over the medium and long term.
