Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Marigold Flower Leaves (Tagetes erecta): A Sustainable Approach

Tagetes erecta (marigold) leaves are used to create silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner. Plant-mediated synthesis has become more well-known as an environmentally benign substitute for conventional chemical processes in the manufacture of nanomaterials, as there is a growing focus on eco-friendly approaches. In this work, silver nanoparticles are synthesized using aqueous extracts from Tagetes erecta leaves, which functioned as both stabilizing and reducing agents. UV–visible spectroscopy was used to track the reduction of gold ions, and the results showed a distinctive surface plasmon resonance peak that pointed to the creation of AgNPs. The size, shape, and surface chemistry of the produced nanoparticles are evaluated using characterization methods such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). This work promotes sustainable methods for the creation of nanoparticles, adding to the changing field of green nanotechnology. Using marigold leaves opens the door to investigating a variety of phytochemicals for specific nanomaterial qualities, in addition to providing an economical and ecologically responsible method of synthesizing silver nanoparticles.
