Metals and alloys are crucial part of our day-to-day life, appearing in practically most element of human endeavor. But one of the major complications faced is their subjection toward corrosion. Technologies for corrosion prevention are blooming as this is a major complication faced in numerous industries, including automobile, defence, aerospace, and medical. Consequently, corrosion-protective technologies are crucial for minimizing resource waste. On focusing corrosion protection of the material coating a new novel class of two-dimensional layered material like MXene is currently being considered for potential components of corrosion protection strategy against corrosion. 摘要

In this book chapter, we are discussing on MXene toward an innovative category of two-dimensional (2D) material, characterized by their layered structure and exceptional performance, rendering them highly promising for diverse applications. Most importantly, the distinctive physical barrier properties of these two-dimensional nanosheets position them as effective barriers against oxygen and hydrogen. MXene often exhibits a good electrical conductivity which can help in creating a conductive protection layer on the substrate, facilitating electrochemical process that inhibits corrosion.
