The construction industry plays a vital role in the development of any country, and Yemen is no exception. However, the persistent problem of delaying construction projects in Yemen has resulted in cost overruns, contractual disputes, and low stakeholder satisfaction. This study aims to comprehensively assess construction project delays in Yemen, to suggest potential mitigation strategies. The researcher used a qualitative approach to achieve the objectives of the study. Active interviews with experts in the construction sector were used to collect data, while the data collected was analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of the study provide a set of possible solutions to reduce the delay in construction projects in Yemen. The recommendations include enhancing project planning and risk management practices, investing in workforce development and training, improving stakeholder communication, and implementing effective mechanisms to promptly address delays. The findings of this research will provide valuable insights for stakeholders in Yemen’s construction industry, including policymakers, project owners, contractors, and consultants. By understanding the root causes of project delays and adopting the proposed measures, the industry can improve project delivery, reduce costs, and enhance overall project success. This study contributes to the body of knowledge on construction project management in Yemen, addressing a crucial aspect of development efforts in the country. It is expected that the results and recommendations presented in this thesis will serve as a roadmap for improving construction project performance and promoting sustainable development in Yemen.
