In the face of strong military needs and the continuous progress of intelligent technology, unmanned ground equipment has developed rapidly. Based on the development status of unmanned equipment in Western countries, this paper summarizes the characteristics of unmanned equipment without casualties, fatigue combat, no arrival at forbidden areas, and no living system, as well as the trend of autonomous, main battle, and systematic development. Then, the development ideas of unmanned ground equipment to replace human in battle, replace human and increase efficiency, reduce human and increase efficiency are proposed. At the same time, it is further clarified that the future unmanned equipment should focus on key technical directions such as intelligence, low cost, and collaboration.
