The existing space debris response methods are summarized in this paper, and the advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. Then, a space debris protection method based on guard satellite cluster is proposed. Based on which, an autonomous response strategy and process are researched, not only in order to protect the important GEO satellites, but also to guarantee the main satellite mission maximally while improving the debris removal efficiency. The many-to-many space debris protection method proposed in this paper provides a new response method for the safety and protection of important GEO space assets and lays a foundation for the subsequent research on technologies related to autonomous response to a space debris group.
