Since the turn of the 20th century, cybersecurity incidents have become increasingly frequent, and the number of such incidents continues to grow. These incidents are marked by numerous highly covert, targeted, and persistent multi-step attacks that pose severe threats to users, enterprises, and even national security. To achieve a comprehensive, accurate, and real-time assessment of cybersecurity incidents, this chapter introduces how the MDATA cognitive model can be applied to cyber attack assessment.
