Based on the examination of Mongolian translations of Chinese texts, this article conducts a comparative study of the existence of third language codes between Mongolian translations of Chinese texts and original Mongolian texts. This study is conducted from the perspectives of dependency type, dependency type distribution, dependency distance, dependency distance probability distribution, and dependency direction. The study demonstrates that “third language codes” exist regarding mean dependency distance and dependency direction. Furthermore, a tendency toward compromise may be a common characteristic of translated language. The probability distribution of dependency types and distances supports the notion that exists universally in all human languages.

摘要
