We propose an alternative analysis of tetrasyllabic reduplicated adjectives in Taiwan Southern Min. First of all, we argue that the semantic strengthening, weakening and neutral, as traditional grammar stated, actually are semantically generated by split reduplicant, in which there are three reduplicants which respectively correspond to each interpretation. Additionally, we propose a semantic account of subjectivity, which can precisely account for the motivation from which reduplication of adjectives is derived. In sum, we offer a novel analysis of reduplicated adjectives from the morphosyntactic and semantic standpoints.
