“Loanwords” refer to the linguistic phenomena produced in the process of contact and exchange between the Han nationality and other countries and ethnic groups. During the Qing dynasty, with the integration of the Manchu and Han nationalities, Manchu lexis entered the national common language lexis system and was reflected in the literary works of the time. For example, the authors of “The dream of Red Mansions” and “The Heroic Sons and Daughters of a Manchurian Family” are both Manchu writers, and their novels contain words of Manchu origin. By establishing the corpus of the two specialized novels, with language contact as the theoretical background and lexicology as the core, a focused examination and comparative study of the Manchu-Origin words in these two novels have been conducted. This study helps us to deepen our understanding of the linguistic landscape of society at that time and the lexical characteristics of Manchu-Origin words, and the relationship between the writer’s national consciousness and language choice.
