Enostosis is a commonly found focus of varying-sized, dense, mature compact (cortical) bone within the medullary cancellous bone (spongiosa), which is considered to be a misplaced hamartomatous cortical bone in the medulla. Osteopoikilosis is a benign, autosomal dominant sclerosing dysplasia of bone typified by the presence of multiple bony lesions which are indistinguishable from a solitary enostosis.
