Solitary fibrous tumor of bone (SFTB) is an extremely rare benign or malignant neoplasm consisting of oval to spindle-shaped cells derived from the pericytes of Zimmerman having long processes wrapping around capillaries characterized by a strong morphologic heterogeneity with a wide spectrum of biologic feature. In early 1871, Wagner [1] first mentioned a spindle cell mesenchymal tumor of poorly understood origin in the pleura. Later in 1931, Klemperer and Rabin described five cases of primary neoplasms in the pleura, and called it localized fibrous mesothelioma [2], and subsequently reported in extra-pleural sites such as skin, nervous system, soft tissue, liver, lung, kidney, thyroid, and even bone. More later in 1956, Stout [3] first described the primary bone counterpart of this rare tumor.
