Osteoma
摘要
Osteoma is a rare benign lesion mainly composed of dense and mature lamellar bone. It can arise either on the surface of the bone (parosteal or surface osteoma) or within the cancellous bone (medullary osteoma or enostosis). It is referred to as a “homoplastic osteoma” when occurs in bone, and it is referred to as a “heteroplastic osteoma” when arises in soft tissue. In early 1951, Geschickter and Copeland [1] first described parosteal osteoma of bone as a new entity occurring in both benign and malignant forms in their collection of 16 patients with the lesion affecting the long bones.
