Western Families in the UAE: Migration and the Implications for the Family Unit
摘要
This chapter gives insights into how Western expatriate families structure their lives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The chapter begins with an overview of the scholarship concerned with expat families to the Gulf, especially the UAE, highlighting the dilemmas they face. Then it explores some of the dilemmas for Western families in the UAE. Additionally, it aims to fill the gaps in migration research on the Gulf as it contextualizes the Western family in the Gulf. The chapter calls for more ethnographic studies of the Western communities in the Arab Gulf.
