Binderless composites have earned significant attention among researchers as sustainable and environmentally friendly materials to conventional composites. Binderless composites do not rely on synthetic binders and utilize the natural wood elements namely fibers, particles, and veneers with inherent self-bonding properties. This paper reviews the research reported on binderless composites which are limited to binderless fibreboard, particleboard, and plywood. The focused topics include types of plant categories and binderless properties by types of composites. Most binderless fibreboards are made from wood, agricultural waste, crops, and grass, while binderless particleboards are made from agricultural waste and crops, whereas binderless plywood is made from wood species and oil palm trunks. In addition, the issues and challenges of binderless composites are discussed.

摘要
