Problematizing Existing Approaches to BRI Studies

This chapter endeavors to problematize the existing approaches to BRI studies. Many BRI-related academic publications are situated in International Relations (IR), and they have rendered remarkable clarity to BRI phenomena with substantial empirical data, elucidating the transformation of the contemporary global landscape. Nonetheless, this chapter carefully details how in-between spaces, diverse voices, multiple cultural notions, and transnational/cross-border mobilities have unwittingly been ignored or obliterated. This crucial step of problematization sets the bedrock for subsequent discussion and integration from different epistemological and disciplinary perspectives.
