Indonesia is recognized as an archipelagic nation, spanning from Sabang to Merauke, characterized by its multiethnic composition. The cultural and culinary diversity across Indonesian regions is heavily influenced by geographical factors. The correlation between cultural diversity, food ingredient utilization, and food processing techniques is intricate. The distinctive presentation and packaging of traditional foods contribute to their uniqueness, signifying regional characteristics throughout Indonesia. A contemporary trend reveals the growing popularity of foreign cuisines, particularly among the “Z” generation, overshadowing the appreciation for traditional Indonesian foods. This shift poses a threat to the gradual erosion and potential disappearance of traditional foods, thereby diminishing the familiarity of future generations with this cultural heritage. Paradoxically, the decline of traditional foods is exacerbated by a lack of preservation and recognition, rendering them susceptible to appropriation by other countries. Consequently, this poses a risk to the disappearance of traditional Indonesian culinary and cultural practices, with no acknowledgment of their authenticity. Safeguarding the preservation, sustainability, and existence of traditional foods necessitates proactive measures such as recognition and registration under intellectual property (IP) rights or patents. This innovative research proposed the transformation of traditional foods into souvenir items by enhancing food ingredient quality, improving packaging esthetics, and establishing compelling branding. Additionally, the endeavor involves the registration of traditional foods as Tourism Intellectual Property (IP Tourism). This approach aims to document their historical significance, ensuring their sustained existence and development for future generations to trace, comprehend, and build upon. The authenticity of traditional or cultural wealth assets typically emanates from and is vested in local communities residing in remote areas, distanced from urban centers. This presents a challenge due to the scarcity of information, hindering access to IP rights and patent-related matters. This includes the process of registering cultural heritage with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (KEMENKUMHAM) to obtain acknowledgment under IP Tourism.
