The concept of glocalization has developed as a generative concept from the main concept of globalism which carries the dual meaning of globalization and localization. Meanwhile in the academic world what seems popular is the paradoxical thinking of globalization versus localization on the basis of an antithetical paradigm. Then another variation of thinking that is based on an integrative paradigm that sees globalization present in a mutually complementary position with the phenomenon of localization has been also developed. Empirical facts about the dynamics of Balinese nature and culture show that both paradoxical phenomena and complementary phenomena grow together and in parallel. The first paradoxical phenomenon is visible in various cases of marginalization of the traditional sector by the modern sector in a capitalistic economic format. The second phenomenon that is complementary is seen in the aspects of art and ritual. The concept of local wisdom is now growing as an academic concept and an applied concept, so that on the one hand it can be analyzed as a medium for theoretical struggles and on the other hand it can be interpreted as an application, especially in the context of enriching the construction of culturally oriented development ideas.
