The term “sustainable” refers to a person’s ability to handle stress and recover from shocks, while not undermining the natural resource base. The agricultural sector, which accounts for 4% of global GDP, is facing challenges with extreme clumsiness and risks, climate change, and environmental resource degradation. Sustainable agricultural practices possess the ability to reduce the consumption of natural resources while improving the quality of biodiversity. Agricultural entrepreneurship is on the rise, with a focus on farm and non-farm activities to diversify income streams and address challenges. Innovative practices such as vertical farming, hydroponics, greenhouse farming, and organic farming are being used to ensure food security while preserving the natural resource base. Farmers face challenges such as technology costs, technical know-how, farm mechanisation, indifference, a lack of support, monitoring, and awareness. Despite these challenges, sustainable practices have the potential to bridge the economic and biodiversity gaps, ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture.
