In this study, we introduced the Intelligent Route Recommendation and Optimization System (IRROS), a new way to plan an optimized personalized journey. Today, each individual has a set of preferences for route planning, such as preferring scenic routes, avoiding high-traffic areas, safety concerns, etc. IRROS makes personalized route suggestions that align with individual preferences. For now, it is operating in Gurugram, Haryana. It works with a vast range of data, consisting of parameter data and user preferences, analyzing it and thus suggesting personalized routes. It performs personalization by leveraging machine learning concepts. It uses a custom-built meta-machine learning model to learn from the user’s previous experiences (ratings given to different weights of parameters) and predicts the best routes by maintaining an optimal balance between parameters based on their predicted weights. It can also suggest routes entirely based on a particular parameter like street lights, live traffic delays, etc. IRROS can strongly affect several industries, such as transportation, tourism and hospitality, retail and e-commerce, and healthcare services, and thus has the potential to change the transportation system.
