A User Authentication Scheme Secure from Surveillance Attack
摘要
User authentication stands as a pivotal element in ensuring security of user details. In the beginning, text-based passcode systems were designed to safeguard the details, yet they encountered shortcomings. Often, users opted for brief and easily guessable passwords for convenience in memory retention. Text-based passcode systems were susceptible to various attacks such as dictionary attacks, brute-force attempts, surveillance attack, phishing, and social engineering. To mitigate these vulnerabilities, graphical passcode approaches emerged. Studies have indicated that humans tend to remember images more effectively than text. This paper proposes an innovative graphical user authentication method that adopts a combined approach, amalgamating the strengths of both image-based and text-based passwords. The method integrates images with dynamic graphics, requiring users to instantaneously choose submit when correct number sequence displayed on the desired image during login. This innovative method effectively counters surveillance, guessing, and brute-force attacks, enhancing overall security measures.
