In the preceding chapters, we have explored theoretically a variety of fluctuations taking place in life phenomena: density fluctuations of solvent and structural fluctuations of a biomolecule, temporal as well as spatial. The main conclusion of the chapters is that both the structural and density fluctuations are harmonic, and accordingly the free energy surfaces of fluctuations are quadratic.
