Data privacy has become a major area of concern after the evolution of the information age. In every domain, data breaches are practicing by eve and the privacy of customers or consumers is at stake. In the era of digital media, the presence of everyone on social media become too common but this is too complex to recognize who is a genuine user and which one is a fraud. The most challenging task is to secure the user’s Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Sensitive PII. Here, the authors are proposing the idea of Blockchain-Based Self-Sovereign Identity for advancing privacy and genuineness over social media networks. This will help in securing the privacy of users as well as helping in identifying the real culprit. If each user has a unique digital identity, then it will be easy to identify the bots, notorious users as well as cybercriminals. In this paper, a framework is proposed for social media platforms using blockchain-based SSI identity management for traceability, anonymity, and provenance. The hash value of the user will work as a digital fingerprint for using social sites.
