In todays’ era of digitization, online storing and sharing of document has become easy and convenient for everyone. It introduces yet other concerns related to the security and reliability of shared documents. For students, maintaining of academic records and sharing credentials online, for applying for higher education or for job has become very essential. The verification of these records by these organizations is even more cumbersome and time consuming. To prevent forgery, and maintain the integrity of the documents, blockchain technology serves as one of the effective solutions. In this paper, the potential of blockchain technology in securing and verifying academic credentials has been explored. The blockchain provides a decentralized and transparent ledger, with improved security and integrity, which can help in better sharing of the academic credentials of the students. Blockchain would also make altering or forgery of these documents difficult, and as a result help in improving the security and efficiency of student-related operations like enrollment, record-keeping, and credential verification. The paper proposed an app that helps students through the process of obtaining a no objection certificate (NOC) from the university after degree completion. This process has been automated using blockchain technology, where the student generates a request and the same is authenticated by concerned authorities like department/institute, accounts, placement, admin etc.
