Update of the Solar Radiation Atlas for the Arab Republic of Egypt 2023

The Solar Radiation Atlas of the Arab Republic of Egypt is funded and supported by the Institute’s management and is integrated into the 2020/2030 Strategic Plan.. The Arab Republic of Egypt has one of the greatest levels of solar radiation in the world, with an average of 3,000 h of sunshine per year in most sections of the country. In the long run, solar energy is regarded as the most well-known energy source. Based on the various maps and tables in this atlas, which represent the most important elements of solar radiation in its various components, as well as the atmospheric elements that directly affect the amount of solar radiation received, such as temperature, humidity, and wind speed, and by including height above sea level, as well as flat, open areas with easy and flat terrain. The best area to set up solar energy projects is located between latitude 22–26° N and longitude 28–30° E, after entering the most appropriate height above sea level within the range of 500 m and flat, open areas with no seismic activity. The mean values of global horizontal solar radiation (GHI) is 6.18 ± 1.5 KWh/m2/d, while the global solar radiation on the inclined by the latitude angle of the place (GTI) is 6.4 ± 0.82 Kwh/m2/d.
