摘要
This paper presents a case study of public Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) in Education District V, Lagos State, to investigate the relationship between teachers and students’ academic achievement in business studies subject. Teachers and students at Public JSS in Education District V, Lagos State, which are owned and funded by the Lagos State Government, made up the study’s population. From among the sixty-five (65) public JSS in the District, twenty-two (22) were deliberately categorized. Ten (10) instructors and fifteen (15) students were chosen at random from each school, for a total of five hundred and fifty (550) respondents. However, only five hundred and thirty-four (534) of the questionnaires that were distributed could be retrieved or 97% of the returns. Employing the “Teacher–Students relationship and Students’ Academic Performance Questionnaire,” relevant questions were posed to the respondents. The data collected underwent a descriptive survey research design, and three (3) hypotheses were tested using the chi-square statistical tools. The study’s conclusions indicated that school structure, teachers’ attitudes, and their prior teaching experiences all had an impact on the academic performance of business studies’ students in the study population. The conclusions also included recommendations and suggestions for additional research.
