Digital Transformation in Manufacturing: Systematic Review, Current Trends and Future Directions
摘要
The post-COVID-19 era has seen an enormous rise in academic focus on the transformative effects of digital transformation, as firms navigate the complexities of a VUCA world. In the face of technological disruption and globalized markets, digital technologies namely automation, robotics, AI, big data analytics, and cloud computing have become indispensable for firms striving to maintain a competitive edge. Our paper conducts an overarching literature review, synthesizing current research on the enablers and barriers to digital transformation within the manufacturing factor. While digital transformation offers numerous enablers including economic opportunities, operational efficiency, and top management support, firms often face hurdles such as talent shortages, employee resistance, and cybersecurity threats. This framework provides invaluable insights for researchers, managers, and policymakers, offering an imperative guidance to unlock the full potential of digital transformation in manufacturing and pave the way for a successful implementation.
