The paper quests the connection among ESG information disclosure and the valuation, expected stock return, and return on assets of 30 Chinese A-share listed banks over the period 2019–2022. This paper builds 3 models and uses linear regression and ridge regression to confirm that ESG information disclosure could positively influence A-share listed banks’ firm valuation and expected stock return, while it has a negligible impact on ROA of A-share listed banks in mainland China. This paper argues that ESG disclosure will be more likely to affect long-term financial indicators. This study examines how ESG disclosure affects financial metrics in the A-share banking sector, filling a theoretical vacuum in the existing research. In practice, regulators can utilize the findings of this paper to inform the development of more effective policies and standards for ESG disclosure by A-share listed banks, thereby promoting greater transparency and consistency in this area.
