Application of PGPM-Based Bioinoculum: Healthy Soil Tomorrow
摘要
Concerns over the destruction of the environment, with particular reference to soil health and wellness, have been raised by the Green Revolution. This problem is further defined by improvements in agricultural soil and plant productivity through the use of high-yielding cultivars, contemporary farming methods, and chemical fertilizers. The use of chemical fertilizers, which have many side effects, leads to alternative and safer sources, such as plant growth-promoting microorganism (PGPMs)-based biotechnological techniques. The use of this technique to enhance soil health practices has become a viable strategy, providing environmentally benign substitutes for chemical fertilizers. PGPMs are natural reservoirs of various fungal and bacterial taxa. In line with the concept of sustainable agriculture, these can improve plant growth, nutrient cycling, and soil fertility. Furthermore, heavy metals that are environmentally dangerous and exist in soil can be removed using PGPMs bioinoculants. They contribute significantly to potassium mobilization, phosphorus solubilization, nitrogen fixation, reducing soil erosion, preserving water, and improving biodiversity, which supports climate change resistance and sustainable agriculture. By preserving the soil characteristics, PGPMs can contribute to the creation of an agricultural future that is resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable by embracing innovation and sustainability. Therefore, the purpose of this book chapter is to evaluate how well PGPMs improve crop productivity and soil health and to offer suggestions for the commercialization and sustainable use of PGPMs as a source of bioinoculants.
