Mining has produced mineral resources for decades for construction, energy, and manufacturing. Due to the world’s dependence on natural resources and the rapid expansion of the global economy, demand for mining services has increased, making mining one of the oldest businesses. Abandoned mining sites constitute a huge environmental problem being challenging to rehabilitate and restore due to mining waste and contamination. The plant, Ricinus communis L., exhibits promising potential as a phytoremediator, owing to its capacity to produce sustainable yields in low-fertility, arid soils across a broad spectrum of altitudes and temperatures with minimal artificial intervention. Despite the promising results of several studies, additional research is necessary to validate the effectiveness of the Ricinus communis L. plant in the removal of diverse heavy metals in field conditions.

摘要
