Statistical Study of Climate Change-Thunderstorms During Pre-monsoon

Presently, it is observed that thunderstorm events have been increased globally. A similar pattern is also observed in India. It may be linked with the impact of climate change, and the entire phenomena seem to have a high impact on our daily lives. Therefore, this paper aims to study the frequency of extreme weather events, including thunder-squall, thunderstorms and hailstorms for a selected station over the Gangetic basin, West Bengal, Southern Himalayas (North Bengal), West Bengal and Sikkim, in conjunction with some related meteorological investigation. Attempts had been made to analyses some standard features of the thunderstorm of the areas described above at different stages of the selected pre-monsoon season time. Thunderstorms data were taken from different open sources websites of different government agencies. We have used various some statistical analysis such as Pearson's Correlation, Hurst exponent etc. and by this study it is demonstrated that there is a long-range correlation between thunderstorms and both temperature and wind speed, and these were made to understand the atmospheric physics of thunderstorms in the areas mentioned above. Moreover, the focus has been made to investigate the impact of climate change on thunderstorms.
