Groundwater with high fluoride and iron concentrations is a persistent problem in many parts of India. Water resources are being depleted qualitatively and quantitatively with time due to anthropogenic interferences. Groundwater quality in Chandwara block in Jharkhand State in India is vital to the well-being of local populace. Water samples collected during the Post Monsoon season (2018) from Chandwara Block, India were analysed for iron and fluoride, apart from a few other important potable water quality parameters. In 68% of samples (n = 143), Iron concentration was beyond the safe limit prescribed by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and WHO for drinking. Considerable fluoride (0.18–1.21 mg/l) was also detected in some samples. Health risk assessment of iron and fluoride was undertaken by Monte Carlo Simulation, including uncertainty and sensitivity analysis, to attain a high accuracy in the risk assessment. It was found that Ingestion Rate (IR), Exposure Time (ET), Exposure Duration (ED) of the selected contaminants exposed the local residents who consumed iron and fluoride contaminated groundwater, to non-carcinogenic health hazards.
