Despite the promising benefits, adopting these technologies in tourism has challenges. This study employs a qualitative research approach to explore the benefits and barriers of technological adoption in the tourism industry and its impact on customer satisfaction. The focus is on tourism managers operating in the Azores, a region known for its commitment to sustainability and investments in technological infrastructures. The findings underscore technology's critical role in enhancing operational efficiency, improving customer satisfaction, and maintaining a competitive edge in an increasingly digital world. The motivations for adopting technology among tourism businesses in the Azores are largely driven by the need to improve real-time decision-making, streamline processes, and enhance digital presence. While the benefits are clear, businesses face challenges like financial constraints and employee resistance. Nevertheless, the outlook is promising, with a strong interest in further technological innovations, including AI and automation, expected to drive continued operational efficiency and customer service improvements.
