The increasing challenges in warehouse management are leading to an ongoing pressure to improve overall efficiency of storage systems. In this work, we address the storage location assignment problem in the context of a real industrial company that deals with the storage and distribution of technological components. The logistic processes of its main warehouse were mapped and analyzed in terms of the costs associated with receiving, storage, picking, and shipping. An ABC analysis was used to categorize the stored items based on their relative importance, which identified inefficiencies with the allocation in the warehouse. A mathematical programming model was developed to assign the optimal location of items in storage positions, minimizing the total costs associated with order picking movements. The results led to a reduction in operation times and, consequently, a decrease in picking costs, improving the flow of items throughout the warehouse logistic process.

摘要
