Seaports are integrated infrastructures in territories that, in most cases, have a high industrial and urban density and play a central role in the territory’s life in all its aspects. This paper provides insights into port-centric logistics and designs the route toward Green Ports, which is identified as a key to leveraging the changes needed for sustainable growth. The study uses literature review and inductive content analysis to identify major themes, and develops a conceptual framework on the relationship between Green Ports characteristics and sustainable growth and development, focusing on resilience improvement with 15 key strategic principles from a holistic perspective: (1) Port Operational Efficiency, (2) Adoption of Sustainable Materials, (3) Reuse of Components in Construction, (4) Marine Water Quality Management, (5) Energy Efficiency, (6) Solid Waste Management, (7) Water Management, (8) Disaster Preparedness, (9) GHG Emissions/Air Quality, (10) Compliance with Legislation, (11) Biosecurity and Biodiversity, (12) Visual and Noise Pollution Management, (13) Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, (14) Certifications, and (15) Stakeholders Engagement and Collaboration. The use of innovative technologies can increase operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Additionally, sustainability principles are briefly discussed, advocating long-term planning and resilience measures. A Green Port concept transcends conventional port functions by prioritizing investments in sustainable methodologies across all dimensions of the maritime sector. It is, therefore, an important source of information for professionals interested in optimizing supply chains under sustainability principles and a decision-support tool for seaport managers and policymakers. .
