Urban resilience and public health are seriously threatened by the growing frequency and intensity of climate change's effects. The interrelated problems that communities around the world face, such as extreme weather events, rising temperatures, deteriorating environmental stressors, and pandemics highlight the urgent need for health-resilient design thinking, strategies, and practices. These occurrences endanger millions of people's lives in addition to infrastructure, especially in crowded urban areas. This introductory chapter examines the health hazards that come with urbanization, including air pollution and mental health conditions that are made worse by the effects of climate change. Additionally, it presents the idea of climate-resilient communities, which actively plan for and adjust to shifting environmental conditions while advancing environmental sustainability and human health. Cities and structures can be designed to improve well-being and withstand the increasing threats of climate change by incorporating health into the framework of climate resilience. The chapter lays the groundwork for practical solutions and promotes a paradigm change in urban environment design that advances both community health and sustainability.
