Ordering Among Life Distributions
摘要
In different fields of reliability, engineering, econometrics, biological sciences, operations research, and so on, different brands need to be compared in terms of their lifetimes. In comparing effectiveness of a drug, a group of patients taking drug need to be compared with the control groups. In order to decide which breed of animals to be preferred, we need to compare lifetimes of different breeds of animals. To the best of our knowledge, first such comparison was done in portfolio analysis (cf. Tobin, 1958) where the comparison was done in terms of moments of utility function. If the utility function is an \(n^{th}\) -degree polynomial, we need to compare corresponding n moments.
