Ternary cathode materials are developed from layered structure cathode materials such as LiCoO2, LiNiO2, LiMnO2, through the synergistic effect of Ni–Co–Mn, combining the advantages of three layered oxide cathode materials: the excellent cycling performance of LiCoO2, the high capacity of LiNiO2, and the safety and low cost of LiMnO2.
