Charged ions accumulate on the surface of a cancellous bone matrix when a low-magnitude high-frequency stimulates, and they attract osteoblasts and cause their aggregation on the bone matrix surface.

Bone responds to low-amplitude high-frequency mechanical stimuli, but the underlying mechanism is not clear. Here, we explain the mechanism in terms of charged ions and poroelasticity.
