The construction industry has made significant progress in improving safety controls on construction sites. However, vocational and professional education and training are still essential to ensure site safety. The Hong Kong government has allocated HK$1.2 billion to The Construction Innovation and Technology Fund (CITF) in the 2022–2023 budget to support the implementation of a Smart Site Safety System (SSSS). This system aims to mitigate accidents in the construction industry. Relevant SSSS training courses were introduced on a trial basis between September and October 2023; a learning platform will be provided for the industry to access these courses. The Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) developed a training course to introduce the SSSS to the construction industry in Hong Kong. The research paper aims to explain how this training course was designed. Anonymous questionnaires were collected from participants after the first two training classes, and an after-class interview was also conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the training. This article delves into a deeper discussion of the effectiveness of the training and provides suggestions to different stakeholders in the industry about evaluating the training courses.
