Comprehensive Evaluation of Pre-tertiary Granite Buried Hill Reservoirs in a Block of South Sumatra Basin, Indonesia by Well Logging

South Sumatra Basin of Indonesia is located at the intersection of the Eurasian plate, the Indo-Australian plate and the Pacific Plate, South Sumatra, Indonesia, has undergone multiple periods of tectonic activity since the Precambrian period and developed a series of Cenozoic backarc rift basins with complex basement structures and diverse rock types, which have great exploration potential. The drilling revealed that the bedrock mainly includes granites such as granite, granite porphyry and granite porphyry, metamorphic rocks such as phyllite, schist, slate and other rock types such as quartzite, metamorphic quartzite, marble and carbonate rock. The basement reservoir of buried hill is characterized by complex lithology, strong heterogeneity of reservoir physical properties, difficulty in identifying reservoir fractures and evaluating their effectiveness, and difficulty in determining oil and gas properties quantitatively. This paper mainly introduces the cross-plot identification method of buried hill lithology, the calculation method of reservoir physical property (porosity) and the log identification method of basement reservoir type, taking the buried hill in South Sumatra Basin of Indonesia as an example. The comprehensive log evaluation method has achieved good results in the evaluation of pre-Tertiary buried hill in South Sumatra Basin of Indonesia.
