This chapter summarizes my thesis and provides prospects for superatom chemistry. The thesis described the effect of structural factors and the bonding interaction on structurally defined superatoms. The energy level of 1P orbitals can be tuned coarsely by the heterometal doping and finely by the stepwise ligand exchange, respectively. The electronic structure of both homonuclear and heteronuclear superatomic molecules was examined by anion PES and to develop the bonding theory of superatoms. This thesis will provide fundamental insights and design principles of structurally defined superatoms and stimulate the future research on their chemical and physical properties.
