Lamellar Macular Hole in Diabetic Retinopathy

  • Chung-May Yang

摘要

Lamellar macular holes (LMHs) are most commonly observed in otherwise healthy old-aged individuals, with the majority developing from the contraction of idiopathic epiretinal membranes (ERMs) (Gass, Arch Ophthalmol 94(5):793–800, 1976; Witkin et al., Ophthalmology 113(3):388–397, 2006; Parolini et al., Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci 52:9074–9083, 2011). LMH may also be associated with other eye diseases, notably high myopia (Tanaka et al., Am J Ophthalmol 152(1):96–99.e1, 2011; Lai and Yang, Retina 38(7):1316–1323, 2018). LMH may be a vitreomacular interface disorder that is not infrequently encountered in patients with DR (Kuo et al., Eur J Ophthalmol 31:166–172, 2021). The specific features of LMH in DR patients compared with those in idiopathic patients have not been investigated. This issue will be addressed in this chapter.
