Analysis of the Thermal Reaction of Mass Foundation Concrete Structure According to 3 Construction Methods: Phased Construction; Continuous Pouring with Two Different Heat Generation Mixes and Using Cooling Pipe

In the early 21st century, the construction field has increasingly developed with the application of powerful advanced construction technologies, with diverse architectural designs and complex constructions that meet many functions such as: Trade, service, office. The load-bearing structures of these types of constructions are mostly very large in size. Most of these structures have problems controlling thermal cracking during the thermal reaction of cement hydration. The amount of heat of hydration needs to be assessed and controlled during concrete placement and curing to limit the possibility of cracking in the concrete. This article presents and compares the temperature field and crack index field in mass concrete foundation structures with dimensions of 4 × 4 × 4m according to 3 different construction methods: Phased construction with 1 concrete mix; Continuous concrete pouring technique with 2 different heat generation mixes and using a cooling pipe system. The author used numerical simulation using the finite element method with the support of Midas civil software. From there, recommendations are made on choosing appropriate construction solutions to control thermal cracking of mass concrete structures in general and mass foundation structures in particular.
