Achieving Corporate Sustainable Development: Leveraging on Process Management Practices and Knowledge Management Capabilities

Many businesses have undertaken various sustainable development measures to moderate the adverse environmental and social effects of their operations. This paper aims to identify and provide evidence pertaining to the relationship of process management practices (process design, process improvement and process control) towards corporate sustainable development (environmental development, economic development and social development) and the moderating effect of knowledge management capabilities. This study used a survey among ISO 9001 certified manufacturing corporations and Smart PLS Version 3.0 was used to analyze the data. The results of the study identified that process design and process control practices on the whole, had a significant relationship towards their corporate sustainable development. Also, process improvement was identified to have a significant relationship towards social development. Additionally, this study found that the effect of Process Control towards Environmental Development, Economic Development and Social Development is stronger when Knowledge Management Capabilities is higher among ISO 9001 certified manufacturing corporations in Malaysia.
