Successful implementation of technology or innovation in construction organisations is not limited to its adoption. Instead, effective technology usage is required during the post-adoption phase to improve productivity and gain efficiency in organisational processes. Therefore, developing an understanding of how organisations could derive the intended benefits from technology implementation during the post-adoption phase is crucial. However, the existing Building Information Modelling (BIM) implementation research does not provide detailed insights into drivers for post-adoption usage, especially in developing countries such as India. To fill this knowledge gap, the study identified 22 drivers for BIM implementation in construction organisations based on a comprehensive literature review. Next, 125 survey responses were collected from 72 Indian organisations using BIM to rank the drivers. Finally, an independent samples t-test was conducted to understand similarities and differences in the user perceptions of drivers to post-adoption BIM usage. The top five drivers for continued use of BIM in construction organisations during the post-adoption stage are (1) improved responsiveness to customers, (2) top management support, (3) market competitiveness, (4) organisational emphasis on innovation and technology adoption, and (5) enhanced corporate image and reputation. The findings will help contractors, clients, and other stakeholders better understand drivers to continued BIM usage, leading to its successful implementation.
