With the aggravation of population aging, intelligent pension has become an important development direction of pension in the future. Under the background of intelligent old-age care, the barrier-free design of indoor space for the elderly is becoming more and more important. The elderly people have obvious changes in vision, hearing, chronic diseases, movement, social interaction, comfort and security. This paper analyzes the needs of barrier-free design for the physical and mental changes of the elderly. We have constructed the barrier-free design system of indoor space for the elderly from the aspects of intelligent lighting system, intelligent security system, intelligent health monitoring system and intelligent home robot. The intelligent security system has the most significant effect on improving the quality of life of the elderly; On the contrary, the average installation cost of smart home robots is very high, but their impact on daily life is not high. The barrier-free design of interior space for the elderly should focus on people-oriented, intelligent, personalized and sustainable development, in order to improve the quality of life and well-being of the elderly.
