With the development of computer simulation technology, more and more fields have been applied to the design of simulation systems. The sports field is no exception, and sports simulation systems are conducted through computer virtual simulation technology. The article studies a design and research method for a sports simulation system based on genetic algorithm. Through the simulation of biological evolution process, the training plan, strategy and skills of athletes are optimized, so as to improve the athletes’ sports ability and performance. On this basis, a fitness function is proposed to evaluate the performance of players in the simulation system. On this basis, the genetic algorithm is used to optimize it. Through repeated iteration, the optimal training plan and strategy are obtained. During the two-month training, the average score of the students was 94.2. The results of this study will help to improve the competitive ability of our track and field athletes, optimize sports training programs, and provide a tool for athletes and coaches.
