Future Prospects in Medicinal Plant-Derived Drug Development: Unveiling Opportunities and Challenges
摘要
Medicinal plants have proven crucial in the past for treating various illnesses. These plants’ bioactive chemicals have been the subject of scientific investigation, revealing their enormous potential for drug development. Because of its abundant herbal resources, India is leading the way in fulfilling the worldwide pharmaceutical demand. There is potential for several medicinal applications in identifying novel chemicals from these plant sources. Clinical protocols include certain plant-derived therapies, while Phase II and III clinical trials study others. Cutting-edge technology expedites the process of identifying powerful compounds. However, the industry continues to encounter obstacles, such as finding reliable suppliers, creating efficient screening techniques, comprehending mechanisms of action, and expanding compound manufacturing. This chapter thoroughly examines the current state of medicinal plant-based drug development, emphasizing India and future opportunities and problems. Some topics covered include new trends, significant findings, the integration of traditional knowledge systems, ethical concerns in bioprospecting, and the need for ecologically friendly harvesting techniques to preserve vegetation reservoirs for future generations.
